SEOUL, Korea, Aug 31, 2006 /PRNewswire-FirstCall via COMTEX News Network/ -- Spansion Inc. (Nasdaq: SPSN), the world's largest pure-play provider of Flash memory solutions, today announced the appointment of Steve Kwon as vice president of Spansion Korea.

Kwon joins Spansion from LG Electronics, where he spent 30 years in various executive and managerial roles, most recently as executive vice president of corporate quality management. As a vice president of Spansion Korea, Kwon will lead Spansion's local business expansion including overseeing its strategy, sales and marketing activities, operations and Spansion's design center, which works with OEMs and ODMs to optimize memory subsystem performance using Spansion(TM) Flash memory.

During his tenure at LG Electronics for 30 years, Kwon held numerous positions including executive vice president of next generation mobile phone lab, where he led LG as one of the most competitive 3G mobile phone manufacturers. Before joining Spansion, he served as an executive vice president of corporate quality management and contributed to increase LG's market share in the global and domestic mobile phone market through the new concept of quality management.
